Position
Purpose:
Performs comprehensive grounds maintenance services to preserve a safe, attractive, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Core Responsibility & Service Standard:Grounds Maintenance:
Mow, edge, trim, weed, and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and landscape beds
Campus Appearance:Remove litter, clean sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and exterior spaces.
Seasonal Operations:Perform leaf removal, mulching, planting, and snow and ice control.
Event Support:Assist with campus event setup, teardown, and site restoration.
Safety & Quality:Operate equipment safely, report hazards, and complete assigned work orders.
Qualifications:- 1. Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a High School education or equivalency.
- 2. Specialty skills include at least one year of landscape and/or grounds industry experience.
- 3. Knowledge of basic horticulture, landscape & hardscape maintenance and installation techniques, snow removal & deicing techniques, and athletic field maintenance.
- 4. Motor vehicle operator's license.
- 5. Knowledge of safety practices associated with the operation of all equipment as listed in the job description.

Required to have a current Pesticide Applicators License, Categories 6A, 6C & Core and have knowledge of a basic pesticides used in Grounds Management. - 7. Ability to perform tasks in low, high, and tight spaces such as, on the ground, trees, and roofs.
- 8. Ability to use equipment such as ladders and aerial lifts to reach high places such as roofs and trees.
- 9. Ability to handle prolonged exposure to:
- · Dirt, dust, grease, pesticides, petroleum products, and other chemicals.
- · Climatic weather conditions – hot and cold outside temperatures
- · Equipment with moving parts and loud noise.

Physical Requirements:
ability to lift up to 100 lbs. (50 lbs. on a regular basis), carry, reach, sit, write, climb, hear, pull, read, stand, drive, kneel, push, see, stoop, and walk. - 11. Mental Requirements: compare, evaluate, interpret, organize, analyze, decide, inspect, measure, plan, work independently, calculate, diagnose, instruct, negotiate, problem solve.
- 12. Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality.
- 13. Ability to work without supervision and demonstrate considerable initiative.
Maintain a safe, clean, professional campus environment; respond promptly to service requests; follow OSHA and university safety requirements; communicate effectively with Facilities Management; operate equipment safely; and deliver consistently high-quality grounds maintenance.
