Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Biddeford, Maine. This Contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a respected university. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise and a commitment to accuracy while managing daily financial activities and records.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records for the university.

- Input financial data into the system, ensuring all transactions are recorded promptly and correctly.

- Process and reconcile miscellaneous checks, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.

- Manage and oversee daily transaction postings to the general ledger.

- Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data aligns with operational needs.

- Conduct periodic reviews and audits of financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

- Support the implementation of best practices in accounting processes and procedures.

Requirements - Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a strong understanding of journal entries and general ledger management.

- Proficiency in data input and financial transaction processing using accounting systems.

- Ability to handle manual checks and ensure accurate reconciliation.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address discrepancies and maintain data integrity.

- Familiarity with financial reporting and compliance standards.

- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
