Job Summary
The State of Maine Judicial Branch is searching for a detail‑oriented Assistant Clerk to support civil, family, and criminal case processing in a Clerk’s Office and courtroom. The role requires strong customer service skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to handle a full‑time schedule that fits the employee’s life needs.
LocationYork Judicial Center, Biddeford, Maine.
SalaryStarting pay: $22.21 – $23.35 per hour. Grade
10: $22.21 – $30.13 per hour.

- Docket, process, and file matters before the Court
- Communicate effectively with the public, judges, attorneys, and other agencies
- Schedule pre‑trial activities, trials, motions, and other proceedings
- Handle and process fines, fees, and costs paid to or through the Court
- Serve as courtroom clerk and perform duties as required by the judge
- Prepare abstracts and reports for various agencies
- Operate electronic recording machines and maintain appropriate logs
- Participate in jury management activities
- Perform other varied duties as requested by the Clerk
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two years of experience in customer service and/or clerical work/office administration (college coursework may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis)
- Accurate keyboard skills; ability to type at least 45 words per minute
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to learn detailed computer applications
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in computer software programs such as MS Office
