The Choral Ensemble Accompanist at Penn's Grove Middle School plays a vital role in supporting the musical development of students through accompaniment during rehearsals and performances. This position requires a skilled musician who can collaborate effectively with the choral director and students to enhance the overall choral experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong piano skills, a passion for music education, and the ability to inspire young musicians.
Responsibilities- Accompany the choral ensemble during rehearsals and performances, providing musical support and guidance.
- Collaborate with the choral director to interpret musical pieces and develop rehearsal strategies.
- Assist in selecting appropriate repertoire that aligns with the ensemble's skill level and educational goals.
- Attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances, ensuring punctuality and preparedness.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their vocal techniques and musicality.
- Maintain a positive and encouraging atmosphere during rehearsals, fostering a love for music among students.
- Participate in planning and executing concerts and other musical events, including coordinating with other musicians as needed.
- Help with the organization and maintenance of sheet music and other musical materials.
- Support the choral director in administrative tasks related to the ensemble as required.
- Proficient piano skills with a strong background in accompanying choral music.
- Experience working with middle school students or in a school music program is preferred.
- Knowledge of various musical styles and genres suitable for choral performance.
- Ability to read and interpret sheet music, as well as transpose music when necessary.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with students and faculty.
- A degree in music, music education, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- A passion for music education and a commitment to fostering student growth and development.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the ensemble and willingness to learn new music.
- Background check and clearances as required by school policy.
