Temporary Provider Service Representative I
5 month assignment starting 11/2/26
Pay Range: $20.20 - $24.95 per hour
Location:
Portland, Maine - option for hybrid remote, must be able to travel to Portland
Schedule:
M-Fr 8-5
Our client is seeking a Provider Service Representative I to join their team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for healthcare providers and related entities, responding to inquiries regarding benefits, member eligibility, plan coverage, claims-related questions, and other service-related matters. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional service while resolving provider issues efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities- Answer phone, written, and electronic inquiries from providers with accurate and complete information regarding health plan and Medicare-related programs.
- Educate providers on policies, procedures, and available self-service resources.
- Research and respond to provider inquiries, ensuring timely resolution within established service standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to investigate and resolve provider concerns.
- Follow up with providers when issues cannot be resolved during the initial interaction.
- Maintain knowledge of current policies, procedures, and internal resources.
- Accurately document all provider interactions in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
- Build positive relationships with providers through professional communication and strong customer service skills.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience required.
- Previous medical billing, healthcare customer service, or health insurance experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with computers, data entry, and multiple software applications.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable speaking with customers while accurately documenting information.
- Active listening and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Adaptability and the ability to remain composed in stressful situations.
