Job Summary
The Summer Camp Director works with the Deputy Recreation Director on overall management, administration, and coordination of all activities at the summer camp. This includes planning and implementing programs, ensuring the safety and well‑being of approximately 70 campers, managing 10‑12 staff, and overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the camp.
Duties and Responsibilities Program Planning and Implementation- Develop and plan a diverse range of age-appropriate activities and programs for campers.
- Ensure that activities align with the camp's goals, objectives, and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with staff to create a well‑rounded and engaging camp experience.
- Assists in the supervision and instruction of summer camp employees and program participants. Schedules events such as field trips, arts and crafts, and special events.
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure proper supervision of campers during all activities.
- Address and resolve any health or behavior issues promptly and effectively.
- Coordinates program budget with Deputy Recreation Director.
- Maintain accurate records of camper registrations, medical information, and incident reports.
- Communicate with parents regarding camp information, updates, and concerns.
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of camp facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to address any repairs or improvements.
- Ensure that facilities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Build positive relationships with parents, local community members, and relevant stakeholders.
- Promote the camp to attract new participants and maintain a positive reputation.
- Associate degree in a related field is preferred (e.g., education, recreation, or outdoor leadership)
- Previous experience working in a camp setting or teaching is preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices.
