Brief

Job Duties
  • 1. Responsible for chairing I.E.P. meetings. Facilitate a continuum/uniformity of I.E.P. processes and procedures/etc. by regularly meeting with special education staff and other I.E.P. Coordinators.
  • 3. Inform Principal and the Director of Special Education of the needs of special education students.
  • 4. Hold monthly department meetings to address building issues and/or department issues. Agendas and minutes are to be provided to Principal and teachers.
  • 5. As requested by the Principal and Director of Special Education complete observations for special education teachers, technicians and I.E.P. administrative assistant.
  • 6. As appropriate, meet with classroom teachers, teams of teachers and specialists to address the special education needs of students.
  • 7. When a difficult parent issue arises, support case managers when they meet with the parents and help to resolve issues, including, but not limited to programming, accommodations and any other related concerns, include Building Leader and/or Director of Special Education as necessary.
  • 8. Coordinate with the Building Leader and Special Education Director to develop and run appropriate programs for students based upon yearly assessment of needs.

    Job Description Certification/License

    Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification. (282 or 079) Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education

    Education

    Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment. Masters Degree in related area preferred.

    Experience

    Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.
