The Academic Assessment Technician coordinates, carries out, supports, and executes a variety of functions associated with assessment, examinations, and grade reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and carry out all daily activities/operations related to assigned administrative functions.
  • Enroll all students in Exam Soft and/or other assessment software programs.
  • Work with course directors, faculty, and academic coordinators to collect assessment questions and other materials.
  • Import questions into Exam Soft, or other assessment software banks.
  • Create, organize, and modify a variety of assessment taking materials, dependent on the course needs.
  • Correspond with course directors, faculty, and academic coordinators to obtain assessment content, and make all necessary adjustments to exams in a timely manner.
  • Under the direction of course directors, faculty and academic coordinators adjust and edit assessment materials.
  • Post assessment materials on the appropriate portals for student access.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to students on accessing, completing, and submitting completed assessment materials.
  • Monitor student success and compliance with accessing and submitting online assessment materials.
  • Help with preparing each classroom environment to be conducive for taking and completing the assessment.
  • Follow all policies and procedures for creating, compiling, posting, and distributing assessment reports and results.
  • Assist the academic coordinators in scheduling make‑up and retest assessments.
  • Manage the appointment schedule for students requesting post‑assessment review time.
  • Organize, maintain, and secure all assessment information for record‑keeping systems.
  • Offer technical Exam Soft or other assessment software training and support to faculty and students.
  • Maintain relationships with software representatives for regular portal troubleshooting.
  • Work with IT Manager and software personnel to address urgent technical issues that arise.
  • Collect and maintain results from all assessments both online and offline, (ex. essays, short answers, quizzes etc.).
  • Create various reports seeking at the request of course directors, faculty, academic coordinators or associate deans.
  • Assist the course directors and academic coordinators post grades online for students.
  • Correspond regularly with Office for Students and Disability Services about students and upcoming exams.
  • Ensure adherence to Office for Students and Disability Services regarding policies and practices.
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline, plus two years of computer, or office administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Strong knowledge of software solutions and computer based operations (use of sophisticated assessment software, spreadsheets, word processing, exam databases, Exam Soft, Blackboard, and Microsoft programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)).
