The University of New England College of Arts and Sciences (UNE - CAS) invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track assistant professor faculty position in biochemistry, beginning in August 2026.
The successful candidate will join a collegial, engaged team of faculty and professional staff in the School of Molecular and Physical Sciences (SMaPS), which offers undergraduate academic programs in biochemistry, chemistry, laboratory science, and biophysics, as well as a 4+1 (MS, biotechnology) biochemistry pathway.
The successful hire will advance the missions of the UNE Center for Cellular Signaling Research (CCSR), CAS, and SMaPS by developing a strong and collaborative research program in cellular signaling mechanisms or complementary areas relevant to health, disease, and therapeutic innovation. The researcher will contribute to a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment that integrates biomedical discovery with the educational focus of UNE.

- Teach biochemistry undergraduate lectures and labs and advanced courses as appropriate to the candidate’s expertise.
- Engage in curriculum development, academic advising, recruiting, program assessment, and service to the school, college, and university.
- Develop an innovative, sustainable research program involving undergraduate and graduate researchers, complementing and enhancing the biomedical research at CCSR.
- Seek to serve as one of the next‑generation COBRE Research Project Leaders (RPLs) and to leverage internal competitive funding opportunities.
- Ph.D. in biochemistry or a closely related field aligned with the broad focus of CCSR.
- Preferred: post‑doctoral research experience or commensurate education and experience.
- Strong capacity for teaching undergraduate biochemistry lectures and labs, and for developing an innovative, sustainable research program.
- Preference for candidates with prior teaching experience and/or grant‑writing experience.
