Biddeford Middle School is seeking:
Middle School Literacy Coach - Grades 5-7
Biddeford School Department is looking for a 5-7 Literacy Coach with a Masters Degree in Literacy preferred. Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years' teaching experience, preferably at the Middle Level;
Literacy Specialist Certificate (092 certification) preferred; demonstrate evidence of student-centered coaching training; and hold current CHRC authorization through the State of Maine, Department of Education.
Job Goal
:
To help close the gap and accelerate learning for all students in literacy by building teacher capacity through implementation of effective instructional practices. The role of the Literacy Coach is to increase student achievement by supporting staff with best practices, classroom delivery, and lesson development, specifically in the areas of phonics, Guided Reading, and writing. The Literacy Coach will strengthen the school's balanced literacy approach by outlining and determining interventions as part of an MTSS process;
supporting professional development for teachers; and modeling proven research-based techniques with teachers in Grade 5-7 classrooms. The successful candidate will also be versed in various literacy strategies and able to help coordinate and participate in intervention programs.
Knowledge of teacher development and coaching practices; successful experience in research-based instructional practices and differentiated instruction; knowledge of Title I programming; extensive knowledge of RTI/MTSS processes and research-based interventions; an ability to work collaboratively with adult learners; experience providing formal and informal professional development; strong organization, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills; and strong technological skills.
Responsibilities- Collaborating with other coaches and strategists in planning and approaches
- Data management, analysis, and action planning at the classroom, grade, and district level
- Identifying and developing specific interventions and data tracking strategies
- Provide informal and formal professional development and classroom support
- Providing student-centered coaching cycles through classroom visitation, observation and feedback, modeling, co-teaching, coaching and mentoring
- Collaborate with staff and with building and district leadership
- Actively demonstrate continuous improvement, willingness to learn independently and collaboratively
