Special Education Teacher (Resource)
Biddeford Middle School is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Resource). Qualifications include being eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification (282/286) and experience with TEACH and Case Management at the middle school level. Reports to the building leader and supervises educational technicians.
Performance responsibilities include preparing student Individualized Education Plans, conducting IEP meetings, acting as a facilitator of IEP implementation, maintaining IEPs and progress monitoring, completing special education paperwork accurately, obtaining and maintaining compliant special education files, meeting and instructing assigned classes, creating a conducive classroom environment, employing a variety of instructional techniques, assessing student accomplishments, maintaining accurate records, assisting administration in implementing policies, encouraging high standards of classroom behavior, guiding the learning process, coordinating services across agency lines, and other job-related duties as assigned.
Live and work in the Biddeford, Maine community located along the Atlantic coastline with miles of beaches, views of the Saco River to its west, less than 20 minutes south of the Greater Portland Area, and it is less than two hours north of Boston. Home to a growing population of diverse residents, picturesque downtown Maine's youngest city with a median age of 29 in the historic downtown, thriving economy, and many recreational opportunities, including fishing, hiking, biking, public parks, and kayaking.
