Educational Technician I, II, III or Administrative Assistant Student Transportation Support (Part-Time)
Biddeford School department is seeking an educational technician or administrative assistant for student transportation support at Biddeford Primary School. This part-time position involves up to a scheduled three hours per week, typically between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM, 1-2 days per week, with flexibility based on transportation needs.
Qualifications include eligibility for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification as Educational Technician I, coursework in education or a related field, safety care training, and the ability to work calmly and effectively with students. Reliable transportation and the ability to report to work on short notice are also required.
The position provides supervision and support for students who have been returned to school due to the absence of authorized adults at their bus stops. The educational technician will ensure student safety and well-being while awaiting parent/guardian pickup and will assist with general office and building duties when no students require supervision.
Essential skills include the ability to remain calm and supportive with students in distress, strong de-escalation and crisis management skills, excellent judgment in assessing student needs and safety concerns, and professional and compassionate communication with families in difficult situations.
This is a part-time, variable-hour position with compensation based on the Educational Technician I salary schedule as outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, pro-rated for hours worked.
