Substitute Teacher

Biddeford and Dayton Schools are seeking substitute teachers for long-term and per diem assignments. Flexible days, 6-7 hours per day, available. Select the school, grade, or subject you prefer. Request a tour of a school today. Pay rates are $125 per day for non-certified, $140 for retired teachers and currently certified teachers subbing for teachers. Long-term subs for a teacher, in one assignment for days 31-90, (over 90 days is at the entry-level teacher per diem rate).

Essential duties and responsibilities include instructing students and facilitating their learning in the absence of the regular teacher, providing classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans, creating a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, maintaining a safe and orderly environment, maintaining established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned, maintaining a professional appearance as an example to students, remaining at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, maintaining reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility, communicating effectively with parents when needed, and meeting and instructing assigned classes in the locations and times designated.

Qualification requirements include a criminal history record check which includes fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education. Education and/or experience requirements include a high school diploma, two or more years of college, or certification as a teacher.

Dayton, Maine community is located near the Atlantic coastline beaches, views of the Saco River, less than 20 minutes south of the Greater Portland Area, less than two hours north of Boston.
