Biddeford Schools are seeking special education education technicians II in functional life skills. This position offers family-friendly schedules, rewarding and meaningful work, supportive teamwork, great benefits, and Maine state retirement. Paid meal breaks are provided.
Brief job duties include reviewing and reinforcing learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher, assisting in drill and practice activities, participating in required workshops, performing non-instructional, non-evaluating functions, assisting in the preparation of instructional materials, providing classroom management functions during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, etc., and alerting teachers to any problem or special information about an individual student.
Certification/license: certification as an education technician from the Maine Department of Education (022), criminal history record check (CHRC) which includes fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education, high school diploma or GED equivalent, plus 3 years of post-secondary education (60 credits). Successful prior classroom experience or working with students with special needs for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.
Salary: per collective bargaining agreement.
