Classroom Substitute (Qualified Teacher)

York County Community Action Corp. (YCCAC) is seeking Qualified Classroom Substitutes to support our Head Start classrooms on an as-needed basis. This role is ideal for early childhood professionals who enjoy flexibility, value teamwork, and are passionate about supporting young children and families. As a Classroom Substitute, you'll step in to ensure continuity of care, maintain safe and nurturing environments, and help children thrive during their school day.

Location:

York County | AS-Needed | Monday–Friday

Your Role:

• Support classroom staff in delivering engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
• Actively supervise and interact with children to ensure safety and well-being
• Follow lesson plans, classroom routines, and behavior guidance strategies
• Assist with meals, family-style dining, and daily care routines
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching teams and center staff
• Support children with special needs by following IFSPs/IEPs (when applicable)

Qualifications:

• Required: Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in a center-based early childhood setting preferred
• Reliable, punctual, and adaptable in fast-paced environments
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, stand, and move throughout the day
• Must pass background checks, physical exam, and meet Head Start requirements
• Reliable transportation required
