About SMAC

The Southern Maine Administrative Collaborative focuses on early intervention for children with speech, behavioral, developmental, or mental health issues. Services are provided to children with autism, other developmental disabilities, and various other challenges. The program offers individually based programming for children ages 2½ to 5 years old and serves students with a variety of disabilities, including autism, physical, cognitive, and behavioral challenges.

Qualifications
  • Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification (022).
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus 3 years of post‑secondary education (60 credits).
Job Duties
  • Works one‑to‑one and with small groups of students to implement curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
  • Assists with building duties and routine tasks as assigned by the principal and supervising teachers (e.g., recess, lunch, bus duty).
  • Prepares and organizes materials for instruction as requested by teachers and supervisors.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, etc.
  • Assists students with lunch, snack, and clean‑up routines.
  • Developing and administering elementary school curriculum.
