Social Worker​/School Counselor

Dayton Consolidated School is seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/School Counselor. Starting August 2026, join the incredible team at Dayton Consolidated School. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in both a clinical setting and through social-emotional development, academic readiness, and the well‑being of young learners through individual and small‑group counseling, classroom lessons, and collaborative partnerships with families and staff.

The school serves students PreK through Grade 5.

• Supports students and families to promote academic, social and emotional growth.
• Facilitates referrals to the Department of Human Services per school committee policy.
• Coordinates and consults with community resources and other interested community residents.
• Organizes and provides training programs for parents.
• Maintains complete records on all in‑school referrals and case management.
• Respects confidentiality of position.
• Facilitates a smooth transition for children between grade levels and schools.
• Develops a variety of resource materials to be used for classroom guidance activities.
• Develops programs and assists students in dealing with human relations, social values, decision making, personal development and career preparation, and conducts classes in these areas.
• Works with Building Leader to collect and apply student data to improve educational programming.
• Adheres to truancy protocols.
• Assists in the programming needs of all students throughout the school.
• Makes home visits when deemed necessary or upon request by a Building Leader.
• Provides relevant student/family information to staff that assists with individual student growth.
• Serves on committees as assigned by the Building Leader and Director of Special Education.
• Attends IEPs and serves students with IEPs as an educational related service.
• Other job‑related duties as assigned by the Building Leader or Director of Special.

• Licensed by State of Maine Social Work Registration Board.
• Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education.
• School Counselor (#075) – optional.

Master's Degree as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Successful prior school experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.

Based on education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement. Range: $49,750 - $81,650.
