English Language Learner Education Technician (Ed Tech II)
Biddeford High School is seeking an English Language Learner Education Technician (Ed Tech II). The high school serves grades 8-12 and expects staff and students to embrace three key pillars of learning: discovery, educating the whole child, and supporting them with a positive culture and climate.
Under the general supervision of the School Principal and ESOL Teacher, the role is to support the development of English Language Learner students' skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, foster communication skills, develop an understanding and appreciation of literature of all types, motivate students to read a wide variety of publications to derive information, comprehend and critically assess the reading materials, and to promote the development of skills in the field of English reading, grammar, and syntax.
Essential functions include supporting and administering the ESOL curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives in person and virtual, promoting a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning in partnership with assigned teachers. The role also involves supporting lesson plans and instructional materials, translating lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Additionally, it involves teaching knowledge and skills in English grammar and syntax, sentence and paragraph structure, composition, vocabulary and proper word usage, word denotations and connotations, creative writing, independent thinking, communication, and speaking. The role also includes conducting ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifying instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs. The role also involves pushing into classrooms to support English Language Learners in all classes.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus 3 years of post-secondary education (60 credits). Fluency in a second language preferred but not required.
Experience:
Successful prior classroom experience or working with students learning the English language for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.

Compensation:
Based on position, education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement. Range: $21.70 - $32.67 per hour.
