Student Transportation Support - Ed Tech I, II, III or Admin Assistant

POSITION:
Educational Technician I, II, III or Administrative Assistant – Student Transportation Support (Part-Time)

LOCATION:

Biddeford Primary School

HOURS:

Up to a scheduled 3 hours per week (no overtime) in addition to the primary role's contracted hours. The schedule will be as needed between 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM, 1-2 days per week (typically Monday-Friday, with schedule determined by transportation needs and depending on primary role's contracted hours)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification as Educational Technician I.

Course work in education or a related field is preferred.

Safety Care trained or willingness to complete Safety Care training upon hire (training provided by the district).

Demonstrated ability to work calmly and effectively with students.

Flexibility to work variable hours based on student transportation needs.

Reliable transportation and ability to report to work on short notice when needed.

Building Principal, Biddeford Primary School

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides supervision and support for students who have been returned to school due to the absence of authorized adults at their bus stops. The Educational Technician will ensure student safety and well-being while awaiting parent/guardian pickup, and will assist with general office and building duties when no students require supervision.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Duties (Student Supervision):

Provide calm, supportive supervision for students returned from bus routes due to unsupervised bus stops.

Ensure students' safety, comfort, and well-being while awaiting parent/guardian pickup.

Implement de-escalation techniques and behavioral support strategies as needed for students who are distressed, anxious, or upset.

Maintain accurate records of student arrivals, parent contact attempts, and pickup times.

Communicate with building principal and office staff regarding student status and parent contact.

Follow established protocols for contacting parents/guardians and emergency contacts.

Alert administration to any concerns about student welfare, repeated family patterns, or safety issues.

Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student and family information.

Serve as primary point of contact for families who need to be contacted for pick-up.

Secondary Duties (When No Students Require Supervision):

Assist building principal and office staff with clerical tasks and administrative duties as assigned.

Prepare and organize materials for building activities or classroom use as requested.

Assist with end-of-day building duties (organizing materials, light cleaning, preparing spaces for the next day).

Support other building needs as directed by the principal.
