Biddeford Middle School is seeking special education education technicians for middle school positions. This role offers family-friendly schedules, rewarding and meaningful work, supportive teamwork, and great benefits including Maine State retirement.
Job duties include reviewing and reinforcing learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher, assisting in drill and practice activities, participating in required workshops, performing non-instructional, non-evaluating functions including suspension of students, assisting in preparation of instructional materials, and providing classroom management functions during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, etc. The technician will also alert the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education and a criminal history record check, which includes fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education, are required. Education appropriate for Ed Technician Certification level is needed. Successful prior classroom experience or working with students with special needs for the appropriate grade levels is preferred, but not required. Compensation is based on position, education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement, ranging from $21.70 to $32.67 per hour.
