Required Skillsets:
- Ability to travel and stay at project sites
- 3+ years of PV utility-scale solar commissioning management (100-500 MW)
- Inverter and communications troubleshooting
- Hot/cold commissioning experience
- Electrical IFR/IFC Drawing experience
Pluses:
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring and/or tape.
- Prolonged periods of standing with intermittent kneeling or bending.
- Must be physically capable of walking on the jobsite on varied, uneven terrain and/or varied temperatures and weather elements.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle for commuting between two work locations.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds at a time.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Insight Global is seeking a Commissioning Project Manager to oversee the delivery, installation, quality, plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, and startup of Battery Energy Storage Systems and Solar Power Systems. The role involves managing subcontractors and OEMs, acting as the Owner’s representative, overseeing site work, safety, quality control, startup, commissioning, testing, and project closeout. The Project Manager will also manage construction turnover, pre-energization, commissioning, and performance testing activities performed by contractors/vendors at project sites.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in safety programs and audits
- Performing detailed system quality control inspections
- Conducting system walkdowns for mechanical completion
- Creating and managing energization plans
- Overseeing EPC and OEM commissioning procedures and compliance
- Assisting troubleshooting commissioning issues
- Preparing and reviewing project closeout and testing documents
- Reporting progress and issues to upper management
- Managing interfaces with project management committees and third parties
- Managing third-party substation testing
- Managing ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning processes
- Reviewing PPA and Interconnect Agreements for performance testing guidelines
- Developing comprehensive testing plans
- Leading testing support meetings and ensuring proper execution
- Administering tests, analyzing data, and final reporting
