Product Engineer – Equipment

Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Product Engineer – Equipment role in Biddeford, ME. Our client is a well-established industry leader known for innovation and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineered products and equipment solutions. With a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence, they pride themselves on developing reliable equipment systems that support manufacturing efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and improve production equipment and mechanical systems to support manufacturing operations and product performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and supply chain to identify equipment needs and implement engineering solutions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Support equipment installation, testing, validation, and commissioning activities.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, SOPs, and maintenance procedures.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements focused on efficiency, safety, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding equipment specifications, procurement, and technical support.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, engineering best practices, and company policies throughout all project phases.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production and maintenance teams as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in equipment engineering, manufacturing engineering, or product engineering preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, production equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with CAD software and engineering documentation preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
