POSITION SUMMARY:The Medical Director defines the structure and scope of the health center’s clinical program, provides leadership and supervision to physician and mid-level providers, leads quality improvement activities to assure the provision of quality care to all users of the health center, and provides ambulatory and primary care for patients; ensures patients receive health care of the highest quality while resources are utilized in the most cost-effective manner.

Work is performed primarily in a typical doctor's office setting. Noise level is usually quiet. Employee must be available to work long hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and travel in and out of state.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:Experience and Skill Requirements:
The following experience and skills are considered essential:
- Seven to ten years of experience in the practice of family or internal medicine is required.
- At least five years of experience directing medical services is desired, but not an absolute pre-requisite.
- Clear understanding of and commitment to the health centre’s mission.
- Knowledge of health problems and disparities affecting homeless and other low-income persons.
- Knowledge of quality improvement concepts and practices.
- Ability to work effectively with culturally and economically diverse professionals, non-professional staff, patients and community partners.
