Job Description
New England Cancer Specialists is looking for a Full-Time 4 day a week Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Breast Team for our growing practice in Scarborough. The candidate will have broad oncology and hematology experience. They will collaborate closely with the Breast physicians in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients throughout their care in an active outpatient environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Elicit medical histories of patients, perform physical examinations, and develop a differential diagnosis/problem list.
- Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic data, diagnose, and treat co‑morbid illness within the scope of a patient's hematologic/oncologic diagnosis, perform procedures as delegated by the attending physician, prescribe medications in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement.
- Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient.
- Educate patients and families about the disease process and treatment.
- Provide information to patients and families related to symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of cancer and related treatment.
Travel: rare
Weekends:
This position will participate with other practice NP/PAs in weekend urgent care coverage. 3-4 times per year paid at a premium.
- State of Maine Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Assistant license required or the ability to obtain.
- State of New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required or the ability to obtain.
- Three (3) years' experience in Oncology and Hematology.
- Master's Degree Required.
- Women's Health Experience Desired.
- Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff.
- Ability to communicate with patients in a clear, concise, and compassionate manner.
