Position: Substitute School Nurse $175 per day

Substitute School Nurse

Biddeford Schools are seeking a substitute school nurse. The position pays $175 per day for 6-7 hours per day. Qualifications include eligibility for an R.N. license in Maine and a criminal history record check. Performance responsibilities include providing health assessments, conducting vision, hearing, scoliosis, and other tests as required by the state. The nurse will also provide ongoing health records and information, interpret and initiate health referrals to pupils, parents, school personnel, and health agencies to meet individual student needs.

Additionally, the nurse will coordinate all health-related 504 plans for students at assigned schools, administer medication according to Biddeford School Department policy, promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases through preventative immunization programs, monitor and report contagious diseases as required, and provide health information to assist students and families in making health-related decisions.

Biddeford, Maine is located along the Atlantic coastline with miles of beaches and views of the Saco River to its west. It is less than 20 minutes south of the Greater Portland Area and less than two hours north of Boston. The community is home to a growing population of diverse residents, has a picturesque downtown, and is Maine's youngest city with a median age of 29 in the historic downtown.

It has a thriving economy and many recreational opportunities, including fishing, hiking, biking, public parks, and kayaking.
