Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Lead oversees a team of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and automotive staff, ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of campus systems. This role manages projects, coordinates with vendors and contractors, supervises daily maintenance tasks, and upholds safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of HVAC and Building Automation System (BAS) maintenance, operation, installation, and repair tasks, including complex installation and repair projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and estimate activities related to preventive maintenance operations, capital projects, and planned deferred maintenance.
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Lead and direct the activities of mechanical technicians and other staff as assigned.
  • Plan, supervise, and assist with daily maintenance operations related to the mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate project work with outside contractors and vendors on special projects.
  • Assist Mechanical Services Supervisor with coordinating daily work assignments.
  • Complete, understand, and comply with initial and annual employee regulatory compliance and safety training. Adhere to occupational safety and health standards, report hazards, unsafe work practices, and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • Primary schedule is Monday through Friday 1st shift, with the ability to work evenings, weekends for winter storms, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school education, plus 5 years of relevant technical training and field experience.
  • State of Maine Boiler Operator’s license, plumbing license, and/or fuel oil and gas technician licenses desirable.
  • Broad base of technical knowledge and skills related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system installation, BAS maintenance, and repair, as well as general plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Physical ability to perform all primary job duties.
