This position is responsible for safely operating a school bus to transport students to and from school and school-related activities. Key duties include enforcing bus rules to maintain student discipline, reporting any violations or incidents, conducting pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, scheduling and reporting maintenance needs, and keeping the bus clean. The role also involves completing required reports and ensuring students are picked up and dropped off at authorized stops in compliance with school policies and safety regulations.
Knowledge,Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Maine Motor Vehicle laws.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to school buses and drivers.
- Ability to maintain order and discipline on the bus.
- Ability to communicate and work in a positive manner with staff and pupils.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and adjustments to bus.
- Ability to lift independently objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
High school diploma or equivalent, 21 years of age, and no criminal and driving violations.
Licensing/Registration/Certification RequirementsMaine Class B Motor Vehicle Operator's License with passenger and school bus endorsement.
