  • 67 hours days: £2,402.84 per week
  • 45 hours nights: £1,910.22 per week

Job description

We are looking to speak with experienced FCAW Welders for upcoming long term engineering work in the South West. This opportunity would suit welders with a background in marine, defence, dockyard, fabrication, shipbuilding, ship repair or heavy engineering environments. The South West has a strong long term marine and defence engineering labour market, including major dockyard and infrastructure activity around Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.

The work is expected to suit candidates who are comfortable working on large scale engineering programmes where quality, safety and consistency are important.

Key duties
  • FCAW welding on heavy engineering and fabrication work
  • Working from engineering drawings, weld maps and specifications
  • Welding structural steel, plate and fabricated components
  • Preparing, setting up and checking work before welding
  • Carrying out welds to required quality standards
  • Working safely in line with site procedures and permit requirements
  • Supporting wider fabrication and production teams where required
Experience required
  • Strong FCAW / flux core welding experience
  • Experience in marine, defence, dockyard, fabrication, shipbuilding, ship repair or heavy engineering environments
  • Ability to work from drawings and weld procedures
  • Confident producing consistent, high quality welds
  • Previous coded welding experience would be beneficial
  • Ability to pass a weld test if required
