Job Description

The Mechanical Designer creates and develops product designs under the guidance of a design engineer, ensuring compliance with manufacturing processes, industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. This role focuses on new product development within the powersports and related industries, using Solid Works or similar CAD tools to generate detailed models and drawings. The Mechanical Designer collaborates closely with cross-functional partners in manufacturing and procurement to improve component performance, styling, quality, and cost throughout the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

* Create product designs under the direction of a design engineer that align with manufacturing processes, industry standards, government regulations, and specific customer requirements.

* Generate CAD models, layouts, installation drawings, and detailed part drawings, including appropriate tolerances and GD&T specifications.

* Execute drawing and model release activities accurately and completely through the full release cycle.

* Maintain parts lists, standard build configuration lists, and the CAD database to support review, analysis, and ongoing product lifecycle management.

* Support project timelines by completing assigned design tasks on schedule from concept through production implementation.

* Apply robust problem-solving methods to drive design-related product improvements that meet customer needs and enhance component performance and styling.

* Resolve design issues related to purchasing and manufacturing with a strong emphasis on quality, reliability, on-time delivery, and cost effectiveness.

* Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement partners to implement design changes and achieve optimal component manufacturing routes that support overall design performance and cost goals.

* Ensure all designs meet defined component or system requirements and specifications.

* Prepare new concept designs and sketches, and evaluate the feasibility and practicality of proposed design solutions.

* Perform miscellaneous project-related assignments and support the broader engineering and design team as needed.

Essential Skills

* Associate degree (AAS) in Mechanical Design or a closely related discipline.

* Experience using Solid Works or a similar 3D CAD software package for mechanical design.

* At least 2 years of experience in mechanical design within machine, equipment, HVAC, or powersports environments.

* Strong mechanical design skills with the ability to create detailed models, layouts, and installation drawings.

* Ability to apply appropriate tolerances and GD&T specifications to part and assembly drawings.

* Demonstrated experience supporting new product development projects from concept through production.

* Effective collaboration skills and a team-oriented, highly communicative working style.

* Ability to work as a strong culture fit, contributing positively to a collaborative and growth-focused environment.

Additional
