If complex Swiss‑turn setups, multi‑spindle optimization, and chasing microns sound like your kind of challenge, let’s talk. At TOMZ, you’ll build precision components for medical devices, owning both setup and production while keeping documentation and traceability airtight.
Questions to Consider Can you independently set up Citizen/Tsugami Swiss lathes and Index multi‑spindle machines, plus 3‑, 4‑, and 5‑axis equipment (Robo Drill, mill‑turn, HMC/VMC)?
Do you routinely perform offsets, change tools, and stabilize new jobs with minimal support?
Are you comfortable verifying parts with microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin/thread gauges, comparators, Micro‑Hite, CMM, and vision systems?
Do you document to ISO 13485 standards and maintain strict material identification and traceability?
Can you lead problem‑solving on tough machine/process issues and mentor developing machinists?
Will you help drive GDP/GMP best practices and continuous improvement while following all safety and PPE requirements?
What the Role Covers Swiss and multi‑axis CNC setup, operation, and steady‑state production.
Offsets/tooling changes for throughput and quality.
Inspection and documentation aligned with internal standards and ISO 13485.Preventive maintenance and equipment care.
Material control for conforming/nonconforming parts with full traceability.
Use of ERP/QMS to capture inspection data and maintain records.
Collaboration across R&D, Manufacturing, and QA; adherence to TOMZ QMS.Additional duties as assigned.
Background That Fits Experience in Class I/II/III medical devices within a regulated environment using calibrated equipment and, when applicable, hazardous materials.
Alternatively, regulated experience from aerospace, defense, or automotive.
Familiarity with GMP/ISO requirements.
Self‑directed contributor who partners well across functions and delivers with limited guidance.
Advanced understanding of machine operation, care, and inspection methods.
Hands‑on ability with hand tools for PM, repairs, and tool swaps.
Ability to interpret prints, specifications, and procedures.
Detail‑driven; organized; effective at spotting nonconformances.
Intermediate command of GD&T.Education & Tenure Technical school certification (strongly preferred) or directly transferable manufacturing/engineering experience.
3–7 years in regulated manufacturing.
Preferred Skill Strong English communication skills, written and verbal.
Physical Realities Lift to 50 lbs (use team/mechanical assist above that).Repetitive upper‑limb work handling up to 20 lbs; gripping/twisting/placing parts; occasional overhead lifts.
20/20 vision (corrected or uncorrected) for sorting raw and nonconforming material; fine motor dexterity for small/medium parts.
Exposure to oils, grease, noise, solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, and sharp edges; PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, and cut‑ or chemical‑resistant gloves, plus engineering controls, may be necessary.
Extended periods of standing or sitting.
Shifts & Pay Differentials Weekend: 20% differential, 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, Fri–Sun Second: 15% differential, 5:00 PM–3:30 AMFirst:
