Summary of PositionThe Summer Resident Advisor (SRA) is a live‑in, paraprofessional staff member within the Office of Housing and Residence Life. SRAs work closely with staff and residents to create and maintain a community environment that promotes academic success, personal development, and an appreciation for diversity through responsible community living. SRAs serve as role models and catalysts for positive social interaction within the residence hall community.
Position Requirements- Applicants must have prior student staff experience at Ferris State University.
- Must be enrolled as a full‑time student for the upcoming fall semester at Ferris State University.
- Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University.
- Applicants may not be enrolled in internships, clinicals, practicums, student teaching, the police academy, or have academic commitments that require significant time off campus while employed as an SRA.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to role model and promote the University’s mission and vision.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive residential community through intentional educational and social programming.
- Support the personal and social development of residence hall students.
- Assist with the administrative operations of the residence hall under the supervision of a Hall Director.
- Participate in a building‑wide duty rotation.
- Help ensure the safety and security of the residence hall community.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to the frequent changes associated with summer housing, summer school, camps, and conferences.
- Serve as a positive role model for residents and peers.
