OverviewA standby center tutor supports students who need academic assistance across various subject areas. This role involves providing tutoring during the Tutoring Center's operational hours on an as‑needed basis. Standby tutoring means tutors are hired based on potential needs and are available on demand. Standby tutors are not guaranteed hours but are expected to be available when there is a need or demand for on‑site tutoring.
Responsibilities- Assist students with coursework in various subject areas.
- Provide tutoring during the tutoring center’s operational hours on an as‑needed basis.
- Participate in virtual tutoring sessions as needed while physically located at the Tutoring Center.
- Provide on‑demand assistance when a student schedules a session in the Navigate system and a tutor is available.
- Reach out to faculty of the courses they support to inform them of their availability for tutoring assistance.
- Offer supplemental academic support that reinforces course concepts and aids student mastery of content.
- Must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Must have completed the course they will be assisting with and earned a grade of B or higher.
- For math tutoring, must have completed Math 130.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be hired through HR prior to beginning tutoring duties.

July 31, 2026 - Position may include virtual delivery of tutoring to students; however, virtual delivery must occur while the student employee is physically working from an approved university location.
- This position is not eligible for remote work.
- This role is limited to supplemental academic support; it does not replace instructional faculty responsibilities.
