Position Overview
The Office of International Education (OIE) Student Services Assistant supports the OIE by helping create a welcoming environment for international students. The role involves assisting with planning and promoting OIE events, creating educational and informational social media content, providing front‑desk customer service, answering phones, assisting visitors, and supporting the Immigration and Student Services Coordinator with various administrative and student‑service tasks.
Responsibilities- Assist with planning and promoting OIE events.
- Create educational/informational social media content for OIE.
- Serve as the front‑desk point of contact—answer phones and assist students and staff visitors.
- Assist the Immigration & Student Services Coordinator with miscellaneous tasks.
- Serve as an orientation leader as needed.
- Drive Ferris students to/from OIE events in the university vehicle as needed; operate a vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities.
Applicants should have strong organizational skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. They must be able to work with and adapt to diverse populations, be creative, innovative, and student‑centered, and possess critical thinking and decision‑making abilities. A background check, including a criminal history and driving record check, will be required.
