About The Position
The Circulating RN plays a vital role in delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient nursing care within the operating room. Serving as the patient’s advocate throughout the surgical procedure, the Circulating RN ensures safety, maintains sterility, and promotes seamless coordination among the surgical team. This role includes managing resources, supporting workflow, and anticipating the needs of both the patient and clinical staff.
Success in this position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain attentive and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
Big Rapids Surgical Service department is a hospital based unit providing both inpatient and outpatient surgical care. There are 4 ORs including a dedicated C‑section suite. Service lines include General, OB/GYNE, Ophthalmology, Urology, Orthopedics, and podiatry. The interdisciplinary team strives to provide high quality care with a focus on safety, transparency, and patient experience.

Scope of WorkDelivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.

- Associate’s in Nursing Required
- Bachelor’s in Nursing Required within 5 years
- Experience Preferred
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
