Manufacturing Engineer – Steel Plant
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the production of our steel storage products in a fast-paced, hands‑on environment. This role involves solving complex manufacturing challenges, improving processes, and supporting daily shop floor operations while leading strategic projects and capital initiatives. You will work closely with Quality Engineering on new processes and product changes, while driving continuous improvement. This position offers high visibility and opportunities to present ideas and results to senior leadership.
Job Responsibilities- Work cross‑functionally to develop and implement quality processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Conduct advanced data analysis and utilize statistical tools to identify process improvements and solve complex manufacturing challenges.
- Design, develop, and implement innovative manufacturing processes and tooling solutions to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost.
- Lead and manage complex manufacturing engineering projects, overseeing project scope, budget, and timelines.
- Lead cross‑functional teams in problem‑solving initiatives, driving continuous improvement efforts within the manufacturing environment.
- Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
- Research and recommend new technologies and methodologies to enhance manufacturing operations.
- Perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
- Use office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the Haworth office environment.
- Perform other duties within scope as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Packaging, or a similar field of study.
- Associate's Degree plus 2 years of related experience OR 4 years of related experience if no post‑secondary education.
- 2 years of engineering experience.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs and perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, balancing, twisting, reaching, and lifting.
- Applicants must be able to work in Big Rapids, MI without relocation assistance.
- Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US.

Preferred Qualifications- 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment with responsibility for production equipment.
- Proven experience driving cost reductions, productivity improvements, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
- Background in process engineering, including product introductions/changes, tooling and fixture design, and plant layout improvements.
- Experience working with steel manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and initiate work with minimal direction.
- Resourceful problem‑solver who leverages available tools, data, and cross‑functional contacts to overcome challenges.
- CAD and design skills.
- Controls experience is a significant plus.
- Highly engaged team player with a proactive, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
