- Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care on a 24‑hour basis.
- Direct daily operations in all assigned areas and ensure a competent workforce.
- Implement Standards of Practice consistent with HHSC, state regulations, and the Texas Administrative Code.
- Provide clinical direction and expertise, tailoring care to individual patient characteristics.
- Participate in partnerships with hospitals, departments, recovery teams, patients, families, and external organizations.
- Lead performance‑improvement activities, including monitoring indicators, record audits, peer reviews, and death reviews.
- Develop policies and procedures that promote professional practice and mission alignment.
- Co‑manage staffing plans to maintain 24/7 coverage and meet regulatory requirements.
- Support budget processes reflecting patient activity and staffing needs.
- Assist in clinical education and academic linkages with training institutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including disaster response, continuity of operations, or COOP activation.
- Eligible for additional pay for evenings, nights, or weekend work.
Attend work on a regular basis with flexibility for specific shifts, rotating schedules, and overtime as required by agency policy. Provide ongoing clinical oversight, consultative services, and participatory leadership activities to enhance patient care, staff development, and quality improvement initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Texas Nurse Practice Act; peer review processes for professional nursing.
- Management theory, planning, deployment, and performance improvement.
- Recovery Model of Care and psychiatric rehabilitation practices.
- Training principles, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations.
- Nursing competencies, standards, and pediatric/geriatric competencies.
- Clinical skills: patient care, restraint and seclusion, TIPS, CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, AED, and First Aid.
- Technical proficiency with computer hardware/software.
- Coaching, supervision, instruction, and training of staff.
- Budget development and resource allocation.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records, communicate orally and in writing.
- Interpretation and explanation of standards and regulations.
- Intervention skills for patients with psychiatric disorders.
- Organizational and time‑management skills.
Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas, or another state that recognizes reciprocity via the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Initial Screening Criteria- At least one year of RN experience in a recognized health agency, hospital, or healthcare facility after graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- OR three years of RN experience in a recognized health agency, hospital, or healthcare facility.
