Job Functions
- Perform routine vocational nursing work and provide care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals residing at the SH with complex medical, mental health, or behavioral health issues.
- Assist nursing staff in acclimating and orienting new LVNs to nursing functions at the SH.
- Work under the direction and moderate supervision of a Registered Nurse with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
- Assist in administrative duties related to medication and treatment administration, including attending rounds, maintaining medication logs, and documenting in electronic or paper charts.
- Perform basic and routine nursing tasks, including tracheostomy care, gastrostomy/jejunostomy care, wound care, and breathing treatments, under guidance of a registered nurse.
- Monitor individuals’ weight, diet, mealtimes, vital signs, and health status after treatments and procedures.
- Educate individuals and direct support professionals on post‑treatment monitoring and care procedures.
- Document and report treatments and observations accurately and timely in the individual’s medical record.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure timely communication of pertinent information.
- Respond to emergency situations and follow safety and infection control procedures.
- Collect specimens for laboratory examination and conduct appropriate screening tests when requested.
