LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) will provide direct patient care in a psychiatric/behavioral health setting for a 26-week contract in or near Big Spring, Texas. The role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, monitoring patient behavior, and maintaining accurate documentation. This position offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care and nursing interventions within a psychiatric/behavioral health setting under RN or provider supervision.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment team to support individualized care plans, milieu safety, and therapeutic programming.

  • Maintain a safe environment by monitoring patient behavior, identifying escalating situations, and executing approved de-escalation interventions per facility policy.

  • Document assessments, medication administration, patient responses, and significant events accurately and promptly in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.

  • Execute shift-based clinical workflows across rotating schedules (6a-2p, 2p-10p, 10p-6a), including every other weekend coverage, while ensuring continuity of care during handoffs.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical/Vocational Nursing (LVN/LPN) program.

  • Current Texas LVN license in good standing (license verification required).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or equivalent).

  • Minimum 1 year of LVN experience.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts (days/evenings/nights) and every other weekend as scheduled.

  • Strong therapeutic communication, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution skills in high-acuity environments.

  • Ability to complete orientation Monday-Friday, 8a-5p for 2-4 weeks and participate in 2-3 weeks of on-unit mentorship.

Preferred

Skills:
  • Behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience.

  • Corrections or mental health setting experience.

You hold a current Texas LVN license. You have at least one year psychiatric nursing experience. You can work rotating shifts and weekend coverage
