Position: Electrician (Big Spring, TX)

Senior Electrician

The senior electrician needs to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

Essential functions include:

  • Planning layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
  • Connecting wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Using a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps
  • Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Installing power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment
  • Connecting power supply wires to machines and equipment
  • Connecting cables and wire between machine and equipment
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning electrical apparatus
  • Replacing faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices
  • Performing daily maintenance and safety checks
  • Ensuring compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company's safety culture
  • Performing other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Education and experience requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 5 years' experience working as an electrician with supervisory skills
  • NCCER and an electrical apprentice license required

Skills/key competencies include:

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
  • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
  • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
  • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Ability to operate job related tools
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
