The primary purpose of this position is to manage all Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) and Beneficial Travel (BT) Program activities, including patient transport, Special Mode Travel (SMT), mileage reimbursement claims, transportation contracts, 911 ambulance claims, inter-facility transfers, and common carrier transportation.

Join the West Texas VA Health Care System (WTVAHCS) as the Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist. You will serve as the primary point of contact and responsible party for Beneficial Travel (BT) Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act (IPERA) audit processes and documentation. You will serve as the Contracting Officer Representative for all transportation contracts, including common carrier, Special Mode, ambulance and air ambulance.

You will assure and oversee the scheduling of routine, urgent and emergent transportation for Veterans, matters related to resource allocation, program development, supervision, Fund Control Point management, inter-service collaboration, community resource development with internal and external collaboration and analytical assessments, including managing the BT Behavior/Audit processes/policies/remediation/reporting. You will also be responsible for working with state Veterans and Transportation Agencies and local transportation providers to establish expanded transportation networks to improve Veterans access to care.

  • Monitor budget allocation and execution to ensure that operating program objectives are met.
  • Direct and conduct studies, design flow charts, analyze findings, and make recommendations for performance improvement programs related to the Medical Center's patient transportation program.
  • Provide training for team members, develop new training material based on researching mobility management, and develop educational programs such as rider training materials and travel trainer program.
  • Coordinate with drivers, clinic staff, Veterans and caregivers to ensure success of the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) Program.
  • Develop and maintain a system to ensure that beneficiary complaints and inquiries are appropriately received and resolved.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction surveys, report areas of concern to and recommend improvement strategies to the Veterans Transportation Program Board and Executive Sponsor.

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
