Job Description
Shawsheen Valley Technical High School is seeking a School Guidance Counselor/School Adjustment Counselor for the school year to provide academic, social-emotional, and career counseling to students on an assigned caseload.
Qualifications- Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Guidance Counselor or School Adjustment Counselor
- Previous counseling experience, preferably with adolescents
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field
- Knowledge of college and career readiness frameworks (e.g., MyCAP, MASCA)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to support diverse learners in a technical high school setting
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Academic/Vocational Planning & Student Support- Manage student schedules and monitor progress toward graduation.
- Identify at-risk students and coordinate interventions.
- Communicate regularly with families.
- Facilitate meetings (504, intervention, transition planning).
- Participate in Academic/Vocational and Attendance Intervention meetings.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention.
- Refer students to outside agencies as needed.
- Guide postsecondary planning (college, workforce, apprenticeships).
- Support Naviance and MyCAP implementation.
- Collaborate with teachers, vocational instructors, administrators, and support staff.
- Support students during shop placement and exploratory process.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Use data to inform interventions and monitor outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with DESE and district requirement.
$68,955 - $112,633; commensurate with experience.
