Job SummaryThe Sr. DoD Scientific Technical Writer at Teledyne FLIR will work in a collaborative setting with Program Managers, Engineers and Operations team members and requires active participation with the team. This includes, but is not limited to, joining build and test activities, attending cross-functional synchronization meetings, and participating in Government reviews. This role requires a self-starter and a results-driven attitude, as the position will support Programs that are fast paced and extremely complex.
The impacts of this role support a larger mission that is critical to the business and to the customers that Teledyne FLIR supports. This role contributes to supporting key missions and provides real world impact.
- Write DoD compliant Technical Documents such as Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP), Design Verification Testing (DVT) Procedures, and Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) Procedures.
- Participate in Engineering and Operations activities during build and test events to capture process flow and ensure documents are clearly articulated. Objective will be to produce both internal and external documents that can clearly depict the process taken, and the results obtained.
- Provide artifacts for Configuration Management (CM) program and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Assist program team by attending weekly and government meetings and generating meeting minutes.
- Travel to support build and test events occurring at other Teledyne FLIR facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in a technical field.
- Minimum of 5 + years of technical writing experience required.
- Minimum of 5 + years of experience writing DoD documentation required.
- Familiarity with optical and mechanical systems a plus.
- Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence strongly preferred.
- Secret Clearance preferred.
- Ability to take initiative on requirements and achieve results.
- Excellent team member who shares a mission driven attitude.
- Able and willing to travel up to 25% domestically.
