Job Summary
Provide technical leadership and hands‑on support to Production in the manufacturing of complex, semi‑custom infrared imaging systems. Take a leading role in the transfer of new products from development to pilot production, ensuring that products are introduced on schedule and production and cost goals are met. Actively participate with Design Engineering in the design of new products and train Production to manufacture them.
Work on multidisciplinary projects of considerable complexity and contribute technically to their success.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership in the solution of difficult production, product, and process problems, especially at the system level.
- Resolve problems requiring knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and optical subsystems and their interactions in fabrication, integration, test, and operation of finished camera systems.
- Document solutions and train others as needed.
- Plan and execute transitions of new products from development to pilot production and full production in accordance with the New Product Introduction process.
- Identify needs for production resources, documentation, training, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment; lead or coordinate efforts to complete these activities on time and within budget.
- Play a lead role in make‑versus‑buy decisions.
- Report progress on a regular basis.
- Identify and capture opportunities for product, process, reliability, and cost improvements.
- Conduct testing to verify that as‑produced product meets customer specifications and requirements consistently and reliably.
- Prioritize and lead efforts to implement improvements.
- Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure new products can be readily produced, customized, and tested.
- Prepare for transition to pilot production so transitions can be conducted rapidly with minimal disruption.
- Lead design reviews from a Manufacturing Engineering standpoint.
- Verify that rigorous electrical, mechanical, and optical tolerance analyses have been conducted over the complete range of product operating conditions.
- Work with Purchasing to assure that multiple sources are available for all purchased parts.
- Interact closely with Quality Assurance and Customer Service to analyze failures, identify root causes, and improve manufacturing processes and product designs accordingly.
- Technical Bachelor’s degree required with 8+ years of relevant experience;
Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. - In‑depth understanding and hands‑on experience in systems engineering and technical products in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with infrared or Charge‑Coupled Device (CCD) camera systems preferred.
- Experience with optics, mechanical, and systems engineering preferred.
- Experience leading new product introductions from Engineering to Manufacturing a plus.

Salary Range$96,600.00–$
