Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer, Fabrication and Field Integration, at an innovative defense technology startup. This role focuses on designing, building, and deploying mechanical hardware systems that convert aluminum and water into electricity, lift, and potable water for remote and defense applications. As a Mechanical Engineer in this position, you will be responsible for fabricating prototypes, integrating hardware onto various platforms, troubleshooting in the field, and supporting testing operations.

You’ll need strong hands-on skills in machining, welding, sheet metal work, and mechanical assembly, along with experience in taking prototype hardware from conception to outdoor testing in rugged environments. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of practical hardware fabrication experience, be comfortable with fieldwork, and enjoy working closely with a small engineering team focused on rapid iteration and field deployment.

Schedule:

First shift with flexible start times between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM, Monday–Friday, 8-hour workdays.

Required Skills, Education, and

Experience:

5+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering, fabrication, or prototype hardware experience.

Proficiency in machining, welding, sheet metal, and mechanical assembly.

Experience with fieldable hardware, power generation, fluid systems, and rugged mechanical builds.

Willingness to travel for approximately 25% of work time for field testing.

Nice to Have:

Experience with pressurized and fluid systems, hydrogen, fuel cells, batteries, or expeditionary equipment.

Background in defense, aerospace, robotics, or hardware production.

Knowledge of MIL or UL certification testing and taking prototypes to outdoor or customer demos.
