Business Unit Controller

A leading manufacturer of highly engineered metal components serving the defense and aerospace sectors is seeking a Business Unit Controller to lead financial operations at its Massachusetts facility. The company operates within a long‑term contract environment, providing strong operational stability and opportunities for strategic growth.

• Lead all plant‑level financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and management of P&L, CAPEX, and working capital.
• Partner with operations to align financial targets with production planning, inventory management, and cost control initiatives.
• Oversee cost accounting in a job‑cost, percentage‑of‑completion revenue environment.
• Develop and enhance reporting tools to provide actionable insights into overhead spending, production performance, and cost drivers.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis on product cost standards vs. actuals and recommend corrective actions.
• Support capital investment planning, including financial modeling, ROI analysis, and post‑implementation performance tracking.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, particularly related to revenue recognition and inventory costing.
• Partner with IT to improve ERP utilization and strengthen reporting accuracy and timeliness.
• Serve as primary contact for internal and external audits.
• Proactively identify financial risks and implement solutions before issues escalates.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance, including at least 5 years in a plant environment.
• Strong cost accounting background in a job‑cost and percentage‑of‑completion setting.
• Deep knowledge of GAAP, operational controls, and financial analysis.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities; ERP experience required.
• Evercore + One Stream experience a plus.
• Hands‑on, collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear business insights.
