Manager, Global Payroll

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Manager, Global Payroll to join our accounting team. The Manager, Payroll is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll process as well as payroll related regulatory, audit, and SOX compliance. The role will also work with management across the HR, Finance, and Legal organizations to serve as an advisor on payroll related topics, projects, and strategy.

What

You'll Do
  • Manage all international payrolls by working with external payroll providers ensuring timely payout based on various country payroll schedules.
  • Own the bi-weekly payroll for US employees including working with our external payroll processor and reviewing the payroll submissions.
  • Manage special payments such as terminations, bonus and commission payments, equity and leave of absences, etc.
  • Record payroll related journal entries for month end close and ensure all costs have been captured in the correct period and are posted to the correct GL accounts.
  • Reconcile and prepare journal entries related to payroll accrual accounts.
  • Oversee the preparation, review and submission of all payroll related financial statement audit and internal control requests.
  • Own the end-to-end internal control (SOX) program for all payroll processes and controls.
  • Ensure payroll and withholding accuracy and compliance with applicable laws (US jurisdictions), regulations, and company policies.
  • Administer and maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity, and implement system upgrades, enhancements, and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to gather and validate payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes and all other employee payroll updates.
  • Perform internal audits of Paycor data (401K, ESPP, etc.) throughout the year to validate the integrity of our data and the accuracy of payroll.
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives including automation and data analytics to create efficiencies for the payroll process.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating, and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
  • Generate payroll reports, including tax filings, benefit deductions and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Be the primary contact for employees for all payroll matters, answer questions, assist with employee education and resolve any issues or concerns, while providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of ad hoc payroll reporting, as needed.
  • Lead the annual W-2 process.
  • Manage worker's compensation and 401k audits.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in all relevant systems.
  • Set up new states for taxation and file quarterly state tax jurisdiction reporting.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience or Master's degree with 8+ years of experience
  • 8+ years of payroll experience
  • 4+ years of experience leading a payroll department in a publicly traded company, including the related internal controls (SOX).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS software programs, preferably Paycor
