Role

Summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Manager, Global Payroll to join our accounting team. The Manager, Payroll is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll process as well as payroll-related regulatory, audit, and SOX compliance. The role will work with management across HR, Finance, and Legal to advise on payroll topics, projects, and strategy.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage all international payrolls by working with external payroll providers to ensure timely payout based on country schedules.
  • Own the bi-weekly payroll for US employees, including working with our external payroll processor and reviewing submissions.
  • Manage special payments such as terminations, bonuses, commissions, equity and leaves of absence.
  • Record payroll-related journal entries for month-end close and ensure costs are captured in the correct period and posted to the correct GL accounts.
  • Reconcile and prepare journal entries related to payroll accrual accounts.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and submission of payroll-related financial statement audits and internal control requests.
  • Own the end-to-end internal control (SOX) program for all payroll processes and controls.
  • Ensure payroll and withholding accuracy and compliance with applicable laws (US jurisdictions), regulations, and company policies.
  • Administer and maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity, and implement system upgrades and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to gather and validate payroll information such as new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes and other updates.
  • Perform internal audits of Paycor data (401K, ESPP, etc.) to validate data integrity and payroll accuracy.
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives including automation and data analytics to create efficiencies in the payroll process.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and accurately.
  • Generate payroll reports, including tax filings and benefit deductions, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees on payroll matters, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll information.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain ad hoc payroll reporting as needed.
  • Lead the annual W-2 process and manage workers’ compensation and 401k audits.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in all relevant systems and set up new states for taxation and quarterly state tax jurisdiction reporting.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience
  • 8+ years of payroll experience
  • 4+ years of experience leading a payroll department in a publicly traded company, including related internal controls (SOX)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS software programs, preferably Paycor
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll processes, US payroll tax laws compliance for a multi-state employer, and HR compliance
  • Prior experience managing international payrolls
  • Experience collaborating with HR and legal teams, including cross-functional initiatives that include indirect reports
  • Comfort acting as a builder; establish/maintain policies and processes and support the organization
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information discreetly
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently and manage conflicting demands
