Cabot Corporation is seeking a Sr Lab Technical Operator to join our Performance Chemicals team at our Billerica, Massachusetts technical center. Within our Performance Chemicals segment, we develop highvalue materials used across automotive, construction, batteries, consumer products, infrastructure, and electronics.
As a Senior Lab Technical Operator, you'll support both the Battery Materials and Carbon Silica Technologies teams by contributing to the development, testing, and optimization of Performance Chemicals products and processes. Your work will include handson experimentation, sample preparation, data collection, and operating large, heavy equipment that goes beyond standard bench scale chemistry setup. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys practical, equipment focused lab work in a fastpaced environment where every day brings something new.

This role is fully onsite in Billerica, MA.
How You'll Make an Impact:We are focused on developing new products that expand our capabilities, meet emerging customer needs, and support future growth. This role will support these efforts and specific responsibilities include:
Sample Preparation & Equipment OperationPrepares samples for nonroutine and complex testing.
Operates routine processing and other testing apparatus as required.
Recognizes and troubleshoots equipment or process issues and participates in problem resolution.
May assemble and install testing or process equipment as needed.
Ensures all tests are executed thoroughly, accurately, and on schedule.
Demonstrates strong understanding of lab equipment, processes, and workflows.
Coordinates resources and collaborates with other operators to meet testing deadlines.
Keeps detailed notes, enters data into databases, organizes test results, and provides summary interpretations to identify issues or trends.
May assist in developing test methods for new or existing equipment.
Performs routine maintenance and calibration of testing equipment.
Follows service requests from initiation through completion.
Supports continuous improvement and shares constructive solutions for routine process challenges.
Adheres strictly to SH&E procedures and works to maintain excellence in safety, health, and environmental stewardship.
Maintains clean, safe work areas; attends required safety meetings and completes mandatory training.
Gains indepth knowledge of work processes and business context in assigned area.
Solves routine problems using skills and established procedures, seeking guidance as needed.
Completes assignments under close supervision with a focus on accuracy, quality, and standards.
Holds oneself accountable for high performance and professional conduct.
Education & Experience Requirements can be one of the following combinations:
High School diploma/GED
Plus 4+ years of related lab experience
OR Associates degree in technical discipline
Plus 2+ years of related lab experience
Hands-on lab experience is heavily preferred
Knowledge of laboratory testing equipment and protocols and ability to identify out-of-range results and note unusual patterns
Basic mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience using hand tools to work on laboratory equipment
Ability to move heavy equipment and lift up to 50 lbs / 22.7 kg and at times utilize a respirator
Experience in a cGMP or other regulated manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
Effective teamwork skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
