Production Manager, Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma, Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and execution of the production flow in a fast‑paced manufacturing plant. Directly supervise 30-40 employees; this includes hiring, training, and annual evaluations. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills that foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and cooperation to meet organizational goals. You should also possess solid knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and a working understanding of HVAC, brazing, charging, electrical‑mechanical assembly, and testing.
Duties& Tasks
- Direct priorities and daily activities of assigned personnel through effective communications.
- Create and lead a continuous improvement culture focused on eliminating defects through robust root‑cause and corrective action activities.
- Lead innovations to current processes and strive for world‑class, industry‑leading manufacturing and processes.
- Manage the objectives and priorities for the manufacturing team.
- Properly deploy resources to support production area.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
- Use effective management and communication skills to create a cohesive team that is able to meet daily objectives.
- Monitor quality and production performance and adjust plans to meet forecast.
- Report metrics on scorecards and provide daily/weekly reports as required.
- Plan and manage factory resources and report daily/weekly KPIs as required.
- Ensure compliance with Boyd policies and handbook fairly with all employees.
- Plan and manage factory equipment and assets to meet production schedules.
- Manage EHS practices to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Qualify direct reports and evaluate effectiveness of training, including updating the qualification matrices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Effective communication with all levels of employees.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes in HVAC, assembly, wiring, and testing.
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality and product and process development.
- Knowledge of warehousing and efficient material delivery processes.
- Knowledge of root‑cause and corrective action methodologies.
- Intermediate project‑management skills.
- Intermediate knowledge (advanced preferred) of lean methodologies including TPM, 5S, and visual‑factory concepts.
- Intermediate knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems.
- General knowledge of manufacturing and machining equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of EHS and OSHA requirements.
- Management and leadership experience.
- BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology with 10 years’ experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience, 5-10 years preferred.
- Ability to respond to and prioritize manufacturing operation issues as they arise.
- Ability to effectively meet and communicate with employees, the public and vendors.
- Daily contact requires courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office software and strong presentation skills.
- Good written communication skills and effective organizational skills.
This role is performed in a manufacturing assembly and machining environment. Communication is constant with Assembly, Machining, Material Control, Quality, and Engineering groups. The role routinely uses computers, a smartphone, and designated Oracle business software systems. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and frequently is required to be available or on call.
BaseCompensation
$80,000-$100,000, bonus eligible. 1st shift. All Job Posting Locations (Location):
Billerica Remote Type On‑Site.
