MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of web design principles and content management systems (CMS)
- Proficiency in social media platforms - e.g., Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of current social and cultural norms and their potential impact on audience perception in order to prevent potential for negative backlash
- Experience with graphic design and video editing is a plus
OVERVIEW:
The Digital Communications Specialist will be responsible for managing and maintaining the school district's website and social media platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of web design, content management systems, and social media strategies. The ideal candidate will be a creative and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Website Management:
- Learn website platform, propose and implement design and layout, and initiate improvements to enhance the website's user experience and visual appeal.
- Keep the district website up-to-date with accurate and timely information.
- Remove outdated or irrelevant content.
- Collaborate with building and district leaders to gather content, while ensuring consistency.
- Provide support to designated website school and district-wide editors.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to engage with the Billerica Public Schools community.
- Create and curate engaging content, including text, images, and videos.
- Monitor messages on social media platforms.
- Coordinate with school and district leadership to identify key messages and target audiences.
- Assist with other communication and marketing projects as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in digital communication and technology.
- Any other related duties assigned by the Superintendent/Designee.
